A company-domain address can help you associate a signup with an organization. A Gmail or Yahoo address may be personal, but freelancers and business owners use these services too. Do not reject an otherwise legitimate user solely because their address uses a free provider.

Free-provider detection is different from disposable email detection: a long-lived personal mailbox is not the same as a temporary address.

How free email detection works

When you validate an address, EasyEmailAPI compares its domain with the configured provider list:

• Domain analysis: Match the parsed domain against recognized free providers.
• Coverage: Results depend on the provider list; an unrecognized domain is not proof that an address belongs to a business.
• Flagging: Provide a simple boolean flag (free_email) in every API response.

This response excerpt means the domain matched a recognized free provider. Use it to offer an optional work-email prompt or choose a CRM segment. Check valid, valid_mx, and disposable separately; free_email is not a deliverability verdict.

Is free-provider detection the same as free email verification?
